- This new plant will double the number of Qualtia jobs and spur development and growth for new suppliers in the state
- Consumption of milk from suppliers in the central-western region of Mexico is expected to rise by 70%
- A new plant covering 2,840 m2, built at the site of the existing plant, located in the municipality of Corregidora.
The governor of Querétaro, Francisco Domínguez Servién, and Qualtia’s CEO, Andrés Garza Herrera, announced the construction of a new Qualtia Lácteos plant in the state, which will not only create 226 new jobs but will offer new practical and convenient options for clients and consumers, making it easier than ever to use and consume food products.
During the ceremony, state governor Francisco Domínguez Servién said: “We are very proud that Mexican companies like Qualtia continue to trust in the talent of Querétaro and its region. This second plant will not only offer new jobs that will benefit more than four hundred families, but will increase the consumption of milk from our region and will also strengthen the development of local suppliers as part of the productive chain. These multiplying actions will generate significant economic spillover and well-being for Querétaro.”

The new plant, Qualtia Lácteos, will cover 2,840 m2 of construction, and will be the company’s second plant in Querétaro; it will enable Qualtia to improve the competitiveness of its main brands and products.

Qualtia Lácteos: Our History
- The history of Qualtia Lácteos began in 1976 when Xignux acquired the company Kir Alimentos, which makes cold cuts.
- In August 1979 the first stone of the “La Caperucita” dairy factory was laid in Querétaro, and the plant was opened a year later.
- In late 1997, with the goal of strengthening its competitive position in the market, Kir Alimentos purchased Zwanenberg de México, the third largest processed meat maker in the country, and Quesos Caperucita, which merged in 2000 under the same corporate name.
- In 2002 the company changed its name to Qualtia, in the spirit of innovation and to create more unity among all the employees, while strengthening the philosophy of quality and service.
- In 2013 Qualtia formally established the Dairy Business Division, in order to strengthen its activities in this category.
Qualtia is an inclusive, socially responsible company. With a focus on the environment, it uses sustainable packaging in key products. It currently participates actively in nationwide programs, for example it donates a percentage of sales of its Zwan cheese brand to the battle against women’s cancer, through the institution Cruz Rosa.
