

Tecnológico de Monterrey and Xignux celebrated the 50th anniversary of the Rómulo Garza Research and Innovation Award. This distinction has been recognized for five decades by the contributions of Tec’s academics, researchers and students in developing innovative solutions to societal challenges and connecting research with humanity’s most pressing needs.
This award honors Don Rómulo Garza, a visionary entrepreneur whose passion for science and innovation transformed industrial efficiency, redefining progress and productivity as tools to improve people’s quality of life.
In this commemorative edition, the honorees recognized were:
- Dr. Ismael Aguilar Barajas, Insignia Award.
- Ali Zahedi and Dr. Mostafa Hajiaghaeikeshteli, Scientific Articles category.
- Dr. Edgar Arturo Barroso Merino, Research Leading to Entrepreneurship category.
- César Daniel Pizarro Bermúdez, Graduate Projects category.
- Michael Jinwoo Park, Professional Projects category.
- Mauricio Villarreal Rodríguez, Prepa Tec Projects category.
The event, held on February 27th, brought together distinguished figures from the academic, scientific, and business sectors and Don Rómulo Garza’s family, who paid tribute to the memory of the visionary from Monterrey.
As a pioneer in scientific recognition in Mexico, the award reaffirms its role as a driving force for the development of science and innovation in Mexico.
