Throughout 2024, all Prolec sites delivered excellent results in environmental indicators.
As part of our journey toward sustainability, we are pleased to share some of the key achievements we reached this year.
Water
We reduced water consumption by 5%, saving 1,542,729 liters—enough to fill 617 Olympic swimming pools.
Key projects: Installation of a wastewater treatment plant in Monterrey, as well as condensation and recirculation projects in Brazil and Shreveport.
Greenhouse Gases (GHG)
Regarding GHG emissions generated from electricity and fuel consumption, we reduced 4,179 tons of CO₂, equivalent to the emissions of 908 cars over one year. This reduction also translates to preventing the deforestation of 208,950 trees.
Key projects: Installation of solar panels (saving 152,839 kWh) and LED lighting replacements across all sites.
Hazardous Waste
Despite increased production levels across all sites, we maintained hazardous waste generation thanks to the dedication of our energizers and business unit projects. We achieved a total reduction of 40 tons through recycling initiatives and process improvements.
Key projects: Reduction of contaminated oil and used solvent, improvements in the minimization of contaminated rags and spent oil, and recycling of contaminated solvent.
Non-Hazardous Waste
We achieved a 5% reduction (266 tons), equivalent to the total waste generated by 360 people in one year. We remain focused on minimizing landfill waste, increasing recycling, and reducing overall waste generation.
Key initiatives: Recycling of wood and ceramic reels, as well as organic waste composting.
We are on the right path to sustainability—resource conservation is key to continuously improving our environmental performance.
